What is the GPCo?

The GP Provider Company (GPCo) is a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) between local GP's and Assura.  The GPCo is a 50:50 joint venture partnership and each GPCo is led by a Clinical Management Board (CMB) comprising of local GPs, a Business Director and one representative from Assura.

GPs are not paid to refer patients into services run by the GPCo. In line with Department of Health policy, patients are given a choice of at least four providers at the point of referral and should they choose to be referred into a service run by the GPCo, the referrer must declare that they have a commercial interest in the GPCo provider organisation.
